The Kirkwood Kirkwood Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Center is located at 7,800 feet in the beautiful Alpine Valley. This cross country center has it all – groomed trails, gorgeous scenery, and a day lodge to keep you toasty warm! The diverse terrain options make it great for all abilities.
The Meadow System
The meadow system connects the cross country center to the Kirkwood Village and provides the best novice cross country skiing in the area. Over two miles long the meadow is one of the last undeveloped high altitude meadows of its size in the Sierra Mountains. This season Kirkwood is working hard to maintain nearly 15 km of groomed trails throughout the meadow and provide a great option for beginners just learning to XC Ski or snowshoe for the first time. The meadow is also a great option for intermediate and advanced skate skiers!
The Caples Creek System
Directly adjacent to the Kirkwood Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Center is the Caples Creek system that provides the most diversity of the three systems. The Caples Creek System begins with a long rolling decent into Caples Meadow offering a tranquil experience as one skis or snowshoes along the winding creek. Along the system you will discover beaver ponds, birds of prey, ducks, heron, and all the small fur bearing critters that stay active throughout the winter months.

Once you submit an order for tickets with your charter school, they will reach out to us with your request. You will be receiving your e-tickets and educational materials in an email within 1-2 days after we receive that request. Please make sure to check your email spam folder if you don't see your tickets in your inbox by that time. Submitting your order at least 7-14 days prior to your trip date is generally best unless you are trying to book a venue that requires more advanced planning.
