Visiting the Huntington is one of the best things to do in Pasadena. If you are planning a trip to Los Angeles, the Huntington makes for a great day trip!

A complex that includes more than a dozen themed gardens, an art museum, and a library, the Huntington entices garden and nature lovers, as well as history and art enthusiasts.

The Huntington is worth visiting for its beautiful plant collections and thematic gardens, the rare books, manuscripts and other exhibits in the library, and the many exquisite pieces of art in the museum.

The Huntington Library is one of the world’s great independent research libraries, with more than 11 million items spanning the 11th to the 21st century.

The Art Museum features British, European, American, and Asian art spanning more than 500 years and includes more than 45,000 objects.

Encompassing about 130 acres, the botanical gardens feature living collections in 16 stunning themed gardens with more than 83,000 living plants including rare and endangered species, and a laboratory for botanical conservation and research.

Upon entering the conservatory and getting hit with its warm, humid air, you immediately become aware of the tropical rainforest, carnivorous-plant bog, and cloud forest environments that this facility re-creates. Over in the plant lab, hands-on exhibits take basic botany lessons out of the textbook realm. Of the 207-acre property, 120 landscaped acres are open to visitors with their more than 14,000 different varieties of plants in more than a dozen principal garden areas, including the Children's Garden, Jungle Garden, and Desert Garden.
